Chinese Green Tea

Chinese Green Tea was discovered thousands of years ago and due to their long love of green tea the Chinese people have long benefited from its medicinal properties.

While most processed Chinese Green Tea Leaves are actually green rather than black, they do actually come in a wide range of styles and types.

When infused the drink can take on a range of tints from yellow to green.

To fully enjoy green tea it is crucial to move away from green tea bags and towards the visually exciting experience of brewing the many varieties of Chinese green tea.

The Chinese green tea growers and handlers take great pride in the presentation of each leaf.
These individual leaves can be presented as:

  • Small Balls
    The most famous green tea in this style would have to be 'Gunpowder Green Tea'. The unforgettable name is given to this tea because each leaf is rolled into small balls. Watching these unfold as the tea infuses really adds to the whole experience. In china this particular green tea is called 'Zhucha' and is grown in the Ning Bo region.  
  • Eye-Brow Shapes
    Chunmee green tea is produced in this style and is also known as Precious Eyebrows or Zhenmei.
    Each leaf is skillfully rolled into a small eyebrow shape.
     
  • Flat Leaves or Pressed Shoots
    Emerald Petals is a Chinese green tea also known as 'Lu An Gua Pian'. This is a very famous tea with a broad flat leaf grown in the Dabie Mountains (Western Anhui province).
